Meet Kristyn

My name is Kristyn and I am a NORMAL MOM! I live in Maryland with my husband, Brenden, and our son, Quincy. My husband and I have been married for 2 awesome and crazy-fulfilling years. Our beautiful baby boy was born right smack in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic and is now almost 1 year old old! We are also parents to our 2 overly excitable boxador fur-babies(dogs), Titan and Simba.

Before I became a blogger and a mom, I was an acting and multimedia teacher for middle and high school students who aspired to have successful careers in the arts! I also dabbled in playwriting, directing shows in the community, singing, and spoken word poetry!

I gave birth to my son at home, in our soaking tub, with no epidural, medications, or interference from medical professionals, in the middle of a global pandemic! AND YES, I did it intentionally! It was stressful, painful, and took a lot of pure grit; But it was also the most beautiful, mind-blowing, and gratifying experience of my life.

I was pregnant for the first-time and desperately searching for information and resources on a natural, home birth for first-time moms. There was NOTHING! There was an incredible lack of information on birthing options, other than hospital birth, for first- time moms. I was newlywed and newly pregnant and I wanted to have my baby naturally, with as little intervention as possible. I didn’t want the drugs or to be cut open in any way and I didn’t want to risk being separated from my child due to Covid, or for any reason. I wanted to experience the beauty and security of childbirth THE NORMAL WAY. Turns out, what I considered to be normal, most people and doctors consider unorthodox, dangerous, and extreme.

This blog is my birthing story and will hopefully prove to be encouraging and a resource for other moms who are determined/interested in giving birth naturally, at home, OR BOTH! I also share my experiences with pregnancy and first-time mom stories to prove to new mothers that YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I writing to share information that might help the normal mother on her journey!
